Imagine a man who forced his wife to stay away from her friends, family, and job. Imagine he also told her she should not leave the house unless absolutely necessary, and to cover her face if she does, and to avoid all people if she does. Imagine if he threatened her with punishment if she didn’t submit. Would you call that abusive??
